Department of Rehabilitation Medicine

The Rehabilitation Medicine Department of Peking University Shenzhen Hospital was established in 1998. It is a clinical department that combines modern rehabilitation with traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation, integrating medicine, education, and research.

The department currently has 52 medical staff members: 14 doctors, 26 nurses, and 12 technicians, including 5 with doctoral degrees and 6 with master's degrees. The existing business premises cover an area of nearly 1200m2, divided into outpatient and ward rooms. At present, there are specialized outpatient clinics for cerebral infarction and cerebral hemorrhage, facial paralysis acupuncture and moxibustion rehabilitation, shoulder pain, gynecological conditioning rehabilitation, chronic disease exercise prescription, temporomandibular joint rehabilitation, rehabilitation department, nerve rehabilitation and other special diseases. There are 24 open beds in the ward.

There are exercise therapy area (PT), occupational therapy area (OT), traditional therapy area, physical therapy area, exercise rehabilitation room, speech therapy room, swallowing disorder treatment room, cognitive therapy room, and rehabilitation assessment room. Equipped with various modern rehabilitation equipment such as upper and lower limb isokinetic muscle strength training system, extracorporeal pain shock wave therapy system, exercise cardiopulmonary testing and treatment system, Norwegian SET suspension system, American digital elastic function training system, constant resistance trackless training platform, transcranial magnetic stimulator (pulse magnetic field stimulator), lymphatic swelling reduction treatment system, lower limb CPM trainer, language assessment training system, cognitive function assessment training system, super laser pain treatment device, portable bladder capacity measurement device, fully computerized three-dimensional lumbar traction bed, SSP neuropathic pain treatment device, etc.

Discipline characteristic one of the department: Building a modern rehabilitation treatment system that is in line with international standards. The advantageous technologies mainly include joint mobilization surgery, fascia release technology, Schroeder therapy, myofascial trigger point therapy, MTT (medical training therapy), CDT comprehensive lymphatic edema reduction technology, Bobath therapy, Chuanping therapy, PNF therapy, ligation therapy, catheter balloon dilation, IOE (intermittent oral feeding), and swallowing contrast examination. Discipline feature two: Inheriting and promoting traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation techniques. The main advantageous technologies include scalp acupuncture therapy, floating needle therapy, fire needle therapy, buried thread therapy, Qihuang needle therapy, spinal massage therapy, blood letting therapy, and scraping therapy.

The characteristic diagnosis and treatment projects of the department include: 1. Sports orthopedic rehabilitation. Prevention, treatment, and repetitive exercise of sports injuries, neck, shoulder, waist, knee, and ankle pain, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, postoperative functional impairment in orthopedics, and scoliosis. 2. Neurorehabilitation. Stroke, facial paralysis, insomnia, headache and dizziness, deafness and tinnitus. 3. Breast and gynecological rehabilitation. Non lactational mastitis, acute mastitis, breast hyperplasia, dysmenorrhea, menstrual disorders, pregnancy preparation, assisted reproduction (thin endometrium, ovulation disorders, etc.), pelvic inflammatory disease, postpartum rehabilitation (pelvic tilt, rectus abdominis separation), and urinary leakage. 4. Others. Temporomandibular arthritis, refractory hiccup, urethral syndrome, constipation, simple obesity, lymphedema.

The future department will aim to become a leading center for sports medicine and rehabilitation medicine in China. The three pillars of the department's development are sports rehabilitation, exercise prescription, and the integration of sports and medicine. At the same time, a one-stop diagnosis and treatment platform for sports injuries is established, which includes "prevention, conservative treatment, surgical treatment, early postoperative rehabilitation, and return to exercise". Fully leveraging the technological advantages of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment, relying on years of good reputation in neck, shoulder, waist, knee pain, stroke, facial paralysis and other diseases, focusing on improving the technical level and efficacy of orthopedic rehabilitation and neurological rehabilitation, vigorously developing pain rehabilitation, breast and gynecological rehabilitation, postpartum rehabilitation, gastrointestinal rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, etc., continuously meeting the medical needs of patients.
